Modern Minimalist House by Pete Bossley

This contemporary beach house is designed by multi-award winning architect Pete Bossley. This modern minimalist house called Okitu House, is situated on a ridge above the east coast and has amazing scenery from Poverty Bay right around to Tatapouri Point, New Zealand.

“This single storey house clings to the ground as it steps down the hill then as it reaches the edge of the ridge it opens out to the sea to become a grandstand for viewing. The clients required a house that could accommodate an extended family but on the other hand one that would also feel comfortable if just two of them were home. This resulted in a T-shaped plan of essentially two wings, one of which could theoretically be closed down. This form allowed a sheltered outdoor area protected from the easterly winds but still very much connected to the view through the transparent living wing.” –  the architects story.

Used glass almost every space, its gives amazing combination views of both bay and ocean. And don’t be worry, because it’s has protection of outdoor area from ocean winds without losing in openness and transparency. The beachfront bungalow also was designed to be large enough and T-shaped plan was used to give it space while delivering the sense of comfort.
